How to EFT

Emotional Freedom Technique



  • EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique is based on the 5000 year old Chinese Meridian System that modern acupuncturist use today
  • A Meridian System is a map of the body that shows where the lines of energy flow through the body.
  • A Meridian Point is a point on the body where several lines of energy meet.
  • When energy gets blocked in the body, physical and emotional discomfort in the body is the result.
  • We use EFT to unblock the energy system by tapping on the meridian points with our fingertips. We also use a simple and easy-to-remember set-up, reminder phrase and tapping sequence.
  • When the energy becomes unblocked, the physical and emotional discomfort disappears.


You'll be using the first two fingers of your hand to tap with.
  • The first point is the karate chop point. This point is on the fatty part of the outside of your hand. Or the place where you would make contact on your hand if you were going to karate chop something. Take your first two fingers of one hand and tap on the karate chop point of the opposite hand now.
  • The second point is the eyebrow point. Take your two fingers and place them on the beginning on the eyebrow. Begin tapping here.
  • The third point is the side of the eye. This point is on the bone at the end of the eye. It is not the temple. Begin to tap on it.
  • The fourth point is under the eye. This point is on the bone directly under the eye.
  • The fifth point is the nose point. This is the space between your nose and your upper lip
  • The sixth point is the chin point. This is the area between your lower lip and your chin. It is actually that crease in between the two places.
  • The seventh point is the collarbone point. Find the U between your two collarbones. Now go over about an inch. That is the point. It is not on the bone but in the corner where the two bones meet.
  • The eighth point is the underarm point. Raise your arm. It is about at the middle of the bra strap for women and parellel to the nipple for men.
  • The last point is the crown or head point. If you put your thumbs on the highest points of your ears and bring your first fingers up to meet each other on the top of your head, right where they meet in the center is the head point.

Psychological Reversal is a situation that exists when our conscious mind is not congruent or not in agreement with our subconsciousness mind. We tap on the karate chop point and say the Set-up Phrase three times to eliminate psychological reversal.


So while tapping the karate chop point, we say:

Even though I have this _______(insert your problem here), I deeply and completely accept myself.

So, for example, if your problem were anger, you would tap the karate chop point and say:
Even though I have this anger, I deeply and completely accept myself.

Even though I have this anger, I deeply and completely accept myself
Even though I have this anger, I deeply and completely accept myself.

The word anger would then become your reminder phrase. So while tapping 7 to 10 times on each point in the EFT sequence, you repeat the reminder phrase while focusing your attention on the problem. So begin with the tapping on the eyebrow point and say.
  • Eyebrow: This anger
  • Side of Eye: This anger
  • Under Eye: This anger
  • Nose: This anger
  • Chin: This anger
  • Collarbone: This anger
  • Underarm: This anger
  • Head: This anger
To Test for the Effectiveness of EFT
Before doing EFT, rate your problem on a scale from 0 - 10 with 10 being "the worst feeling" and 0 being "doesn't bother you" Then retest after EFT.
